One-of-a-kind dining table for 12 made from reclaimed timber

This beautiful 12-seat dining table has been ‘upcycled’ from very different origins: The client salvaged a series of thick timber beams from a renovation in a Victorian ski-fields resort town. Originally from a feature wall, this magnificent 60-year-old Oregon timber has been repurposed as a dining table after expert consultation with Zokk. The table stands some 3.2metres long and over 60mm thick.
Whilst the end result is luxurious, the table had rather more humble beginnings, with a number of steps needed to restore it to its former glory including cleaning, removing old nails, planing, sanding, gluing and polishing.
The soft nature of the timber means it dints very easily, but this is seen as a great characteristic giving it a warm, loved feel.
